Broad Art Center
The UCLA Department of Art and the New Wight Gallery are housed in the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Center, designed by Richard Meier & Partners Architects, and completed in 2006.
Conceived as the main gateway to UCLA’s North Campus, the Broad Art Center is situated just north of the UCLA Sculpture Garden.
Departmental facilities include:
- loft-like painting and drawing studios
- an indoor/outdoor sculpture studio and lab
- black and white darkroom, digital imaging facilities, and a photography shoot studio
- a fully-equipped indoor/outdoor ceramic lab
- work space for large-scale projects
- intaglio printmaking facilities
- a digital studio
- exhibition spaces and galleries
New Wight Gallery
Broad Art Center Gallery Wing, Room 1100
The New Wight Gallery is vital for the visual arts on campus, both as a venue for exhibiting student work and as a forum for discussion. Graduate students organize a biennial exhibition of graduate-level artwork selected from on-site studio visits by graduate students to a number of the most prestigious art schools and university art departments in North America and abroad. Student art exhibitions take place in the New Wight Gallery throughout the academic year, including:
- M.F.A. fall preview group exhibition
- M.F.A. exhibitions in the winter and spring quarters
- an exhibition of M.F.A candidates from Southern California or around the world, curated by UCLA M.F.A. candidates
- undergraduate scholarship award exhibition
- undergraduate juried exhibition, organized by a guest curator
- undergraduate senior exhibition
Undergraduate Art Gallery

Undergraduate Art majors are encouraged to organize exhibitions in the Undergraduate Art Gallery (individual or group). There is also an Instagram Undergraduate Gallery @uclalittlegallery.
Digital Studio
Broad Art Center Gallery Wing, Room 2100B
Located above the New Wight Gallery, the Digital Studio is a workspace providing tools and support for digital technology across areas. Equipment includes iMacs with Wacom tablets, flatbed scanners, color laser and inkjet printers from letter size to 64” wide, and DVD/Blu-ray burners. A broad range of software is available including applications for video editing sound, graphics, photography, 3d and other types of work. The studio is available to all students in the Department of Art with no lab fee. Printing is available for a small fee.
